Altadena Map Poster & Print
Altadena lies just north of Pasadena in Los Angeles County, on a sloping plain that rises to meet the San Gabriel Mountains. On the map, its long north–south avenues run uphill until they end suddenly at the canyons and ridges of the Angeles National Forest. The mountain front forms a hard, irregular edge along the top of the grid.
Santa Rosa Avenue, known as Christmas Tree Lane for its old deodar cedars, is one of the community's best-known streets. Early in the twentieth century, the Mount Lowe Railway carried visitors from here up into the mountains. In January 2025 the Eaton Fire destroyed a large part of Altadena, and the community has been rebuilding since then.
