Amélia Rodrigues is a municipality in the state of Bahia, between Salvador and Feira de Santana, on the edge of the Recôncavo, the fertile country around the Bay of All Saints. The municipality is named after Amélia Rodrigues, a Bahian writer, poet and teacher born in the region in the nineteenth century and remembered as a notable figure in the state's literature.
