Bad Honnef Map Poster & Print
Bad Honnef lies on the east bank of the Rhine just south of Bonn, where the Siebengebirge hills rise steeply behind the town. On the map the town forms a long band between water and slopes. Its streets run parallel to the river, and lanes climb into the woods behind. The name recalls its past as a spa town, and villas from that era still line some of its streets.
Two islands lie in the river here. Grafenwerth is reached by a bridge from Bad Honnef, and Nonnenwerth, with its former convent, lies a little upstream. The district of Rhöndorf, at the foot of the Drachenfels, was the home of Konrad Adenauer, the first chancellor of the Federal Republic, and his house is now a memorial.
