Ban Kamala Map Poster & Print
Ban Kamala sits on the west coast of Phuket in southern Thailand, around a broad bay on the Andaman Sea. A long sandy beach runs along the shore, and the village spreads back from it across a narrow coastal plain toward green hills. On a map the curve of the bay is the dominant shape.
The coastal road connects Kamala with Patong to the south and Surin to the north, climbing over the headlands on each side. A Ban Kamala map poster shows how the streets fill the level ground between those ridges and then stop where the slopes begin.
The village was badly damaged in the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami and has since been rebuilt. Today it combines a local community with resorts and holiday homes. The large Phuket FantaSea cultural park is also here, and its site shows up as a distinct block inland from the beach.
