Boconó Map Poster & Print
Boconó sits high in the Venezuelan Andes in the state of Trujillo, in a valley surrounded by steep mountain slopes. The town follows the valley floor, so its map is elongated: a central grid near the plaza gives way to streets that follow the river and the contours of the terrain. Toward the edges, the lines climb and bend as the ground rises.
The Boconó river runs through the valley and gives the town both its name and its direction. Around it, the slopes are farmed in small plots, and the roads leading out of town wind upward in long curves. Compared with the lowland grids of Venezuela, the map has more movement and less symmetry.
