Casa Santa Map Poster & Print
Casa Santa is the modern lower part of the comune of Erice in western Sicily. It spreads across the level ground at the foot of Monte Erice, where the medieval hilltop town sits above. Over time Casa Santa has grown into a continuous urban area with the neighbouring city of Trapani, and on a map the boundary between them is hard to see.
The contrast with the mountain is the defining feature. Below, streets of apartment blocks and houses form a fairly regular pattern across the plain. Above, the slopes rise steeply toward the old town, and a cable car links the lower area with Erice at the summit. To the west, Trapani leads out to the sea.
