Chaïdári lies on the western edge of the Athens basin, where the city's dense street grid rises onto the slopes of Mount Aigaleo and the Poikilo hills. On a map the houses thin out uphill and give way to pine forest, while the lower streets merge with the continuous urban fabric of Athens.
The main axis is Iera Odos, the Sacred Way, which in antiquity linked Athens with Eleusis. Its modern course still cuts through the district toward the pass at Daphni. Here, the Monastery of Daphni, known for its Byzantine mosaics, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site within the municipality.
