Chebarkul’ Map Poster & Print

Chebarkul’ sits in the Chelyabinsk region, on the eastern side of the southern Urals, where the land is dotted with lakes. From above, the town wraps around the shore of Lake Chebarkul, a broad body of water that takes up a large share of the map. Streets run inland from the waterline, and forest and smaller lakes surround the built-up area.

The lake became internationally known in February 2013, when a fragment of the Chelyabinsk meteor broke through its ice, leaving a hole in the surface. A large piece was later recovered from the lake bed. Beyond that event, the town is a regional centre with a long military presence, a railway link and a lakeside setting popular for summer recreation.

A Chebarkul’ map poster uses the lake as its anchor. The shoreline defines the composition, the town's streets fill one side, and the open water offers a large calm area in the print. It is a good example of how a single lake can shape an entire map.

Lake Chebarkul

The lake dominates the map with its broad, irregular shoreline. It became known worldwide after a meteorite fragment fell through its ice in 2013.

02

Lakeside streets

The town's streets run back from the shore, with blocks shaped by the curve of the water rather than a single overall grid.

03

A land of lakes

Around the town, smaller lakes and patches of forest appear across the map, typical of this part of the southern Urals.
