Chico Map Poster & Print
Chico lies on the flat floor of the northern Sacramento Valley, where the foothills of the Sierra Nevada begin to rise to the east. The downtown is laid out as a neat grid next to the campus of California State University, Chico, and wide avenues such as the Esplanade run north from it between rows of houses.
The defining feature on the map is Bidwell Park, which follows Big Chico Creek from the middle of town up into the foothill canyon. It is one of the largest municipal parks in the United States, and it appears as a long, narrow band of open space cutting through the city's streets. Smaller creeks cross the town on the same diagonal.
The city grew from the ranch of John Bidwell, who donated much of the land, and it is also home to Sierra Nevada Brewing. A Chico map poster shows the grid, the campus and the long green ribbon of the park together, a simple layout that reads well at every print size.
