Veste Coburg
The fortress crowns the hill east of town, its walls and courtyards forming a distinct enclosed shape connected to the centre by winding paths.

Coburg Map Poster & Print
Coburg lies in northern Bavaria, in the valley of the Itz. Seen from above, its old town is a tight knot of crooked lanes around the market square, ringed by the line of the former walls. To the east the ground rises steeply toward the Veste Coburg, one of the largest castle complexes in Germany, which sits on its hill like a separate walled town.
Between the town and the fortress lies the Hofgarten, a long landscaped park that climbs from the Schlossplatz and Ehrenburg Palace up the slope. On a map it appears as a wide green wedge pushing into the street pattern. Newer districts spread along the valley floor and up the surrounding hillsides in looser curving roads.
Coburg was the seat of the dukes of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, and Prince Albert, husband of Queen Victoria, was born nearby. The town only joined Bavaria in 1920 after a local vote. A Coburg map poster brings together all of this in one frame: the dense medieval core, the palace square, the park and the fortress looking down on it.

Hofgarten slope
The palace garden rises from Ehrenburg Palace toward the Veste, a large open area of paths that reads clearly among the surrounding streets.
Market square core
The old town gathers around the Marktplatz, where narrow lanes bend inward and the outline of the former fortifications still shapes the ring of streets.

Coburg suits anyone with a feel for European court history, a student years memory, or family roots in Upper Franconia. The fortress, palace and old town make a rare, legible composition even at small print sizes.
