Condesa Map Poster & Print
Condesa is one of Mexico City's most recognizable neighborhoods on a map, thanks to a single shape. Avenida Amsterdam forms a closed oval loop that follows the track of a former horse racing course, and it encircles Parque México. The surrounding streets bend to fit this curve instead of following a strict grid, which gives the district an unusually soft outline among the city's straight avenues.
The neighborhood was developed mainly in the 1920s and 1930s, and many buildings from that period are Art Deco or colonial revival in style. Parque México and the nearby Parque España are its two main green spaces, both shaded by mature trees. The wide planted median along Avenida Amsterdam makes even the road feel like part of the park system.
