Damboya lies in the Central Ethiopia region, in the green, densely settled highlands of the Kembata area southwest of Addis Ababa. The countryside here is intensively farmed in small plots, and enset, the false banana plant that is a staple food in southern Ethiopia, is widely grown around homes.
