Denison Map Poster & Print
Denison was founded in 1872 as a stop on the Missouri–Kansas–Texas Railroad, and its map still reflects that. A tight grid of streets centres on Main Street and the old rail corridor, then gives way to looser suburban patterns at the edges. To the north, the land slopes toward the Red River, which marks the border with Oklahoma.
The town is best known as the birthplace of Dwight D. Eisenhower, whose childhood home is preserved as a historic site. Just north and west lies Lake Texoma, a large reservoir formed by Denison Dam on the Red River. Its branching shoreline adds a dramatic edge to any wider view of the area.
