Everett lies just north of Boston, across the Mystic River from Charlestown, and covers only a small area. On the map it is almost entirely built up: a dense mesh of residential streets filling the land between Somerville, Malden, Revere and Chelsea, with only a few parks and playing fields breaking the pattern.
The southern edge of the city is shaped by the Mystic River and its industrial waterfront, where the Encore Boston Harbor resort opened in 2019 on a former industrial site.
