Gierłoż Map Poster & Print
Gierłoż is a small village in north-eastern Poland, a short distance east of Kętrzyn in the Warmian-Masurian region. On a map it appears as only a handful of roads and buildings set within dense forest, with the lakes typical of Masuria scattered across the surrounding landscape.
The village is known internationally as the site of the Wolf's Lair, the wartime headquarters of Hitler on the Eastern Front, and the place of the failed assassination attempt of July 1944. The ruins of its concrete bunkers still lie in the forest and are visited today as a historical site.
