Huguo Map Poster & Print
Huguo lies in southern Sichuan, in the hilly country near the Yangtze, where the Sichuan Basin breaks into ridges and river valleys. From above, the town is built along the water. Its streets stretch along the riverbank and climb short distances up the slopes behind, following the contours rather than any rigid plan.
Around the town, the land is intensely farmed. Terraced fields step up the hillsides, and small roads and villages are scattered across the countryside. On a map, the pattern of river, winding roads and cultivated slopes creates a detailed and lively texture, very different from the flat grids of northern China.
