Kahama lies in the Shinyanga Region of north-western Tanzania, on the wide inland plateau south of Lake Victoria. From above, the town is organised around a main road corridor, with a denser centre of markets and shops and a looser pattern of residential streets and plots spreading into the surrounding countryside.
