Kolavallúr is a settlement in Kannur district in northern Kerala. As in much of rural Kerala, it has no compact centre surrounded by fields. Houses are spread through a green landscape, each on its own plot among coconut palms and gardens. From above, narrow lanes wind between these plots, and main roads link small junctions where shops and services gather.
The landscape of the Kannur hinterland mixes low laterite hills, paddy fields in the valleys and streams that drain toward the Arabian Sea. The region is densely populated but stays green, a pattern that gives northern Kerala its continuous, garden-like character.
