Kūmher Map Poster & Print
Kūmher is a town in the Bharatpur district of eastern Rajasthan, on the flat plains between Bharatpur and Deeg. From above, a dense old core of narrow lanes sits at the centre. Newer growth spreads along the roads, and beyond it lies a wide expanse of farmland divided into regular fields.
The town is linked to the history of the Jat rulers of Bharatpur, who fortified it. Kūmher is remembered for the siege of 1754, when Maratha forces surrounded the fort and the Maratha commander Khanderao Holkar was killed. On the map, the historic centre still stands out as the most compact, irregular part of the town.
