Ladyzhyn is in Vinnytsia Oblast in central Ukraine, on the Southern Bug river. On a map the river and its reservoir dominate. The town is built on the higher bank, with a compact centre of apartment blocks and streets arranged in a mostly planned layout, and the water curves broadly along its edge.
The town is best known for its thermal power plant, one of the largest in the region. Its industrial site and cooling reservoir are clearly visible on the map. Much of modern Ladyzhyn was built to serve the plant in the second half of the twentieth century, which explains its planned look. Older streets and private houses surround the newer centre.
