Lage Map Poster & Print
Lage lies in the Lippe district of North Rhine-Westphalia, between Bielefeld and Detmold. The small river Werre passes through town, and the historic core forms a tight knot of streets around the church. From there the town spreads into residential districts and outlying villages that were merged into Lage over time, scattered across gently rolling farmland toward the Teutoburg Forest.
Lage is closely associated with the Lippe brickmakers, seasonal workers who for generations left the region each spring to make bricks across northern Europe. That history is told at the LWL industrial museum in a former brickworks on the edge of town. Railway lines also meet here, and their tracks cut clean lines through the map.
