Löhne Map Poster & Print
Löhne lies in the Herford district of North Rhine-Westphalia, in the gently rolling country between the Wiehen Hills and the Teutoburg Forest. Its map does not show a single historic centre. Instead, several former villages spread across the Werre valley, connected by main roads and separated by fields, small woods and the meadows along the river.
The present town was formed in 1969 from the merger of separate communities, which explains its dispersed shape. Löhne developed around its railway station, an important junction where lines toward Osnabrück and Hameln branch off the main line through Westphalia. The area is also known for its furniture and kitchen manufacturing tradition.
