Luoqi Map Poster & Print
Luoqi sits on the Yangtze within Chongqing municipality, and the river sets the terms of its map. The town runs along the bank in a long band. Streets parallel the water, and shorter lanes climb away from it. On the far side, the opposite shore makes a second edge, so the river becomes a broad empty channel through the middle of the composition.
Towns along this stretch of the Yangtze grew up around river traffic, and that history still shows in the layout. The densest streets face the water, and the pattern loosens as it moves inland toward farmland and low hills. Roads leaving the town head up into the surrounding countryside, so the map has a clear sense of front and back.
