Mengla Map Poster & Print
Mengla lies at the southern tip of Yunnan province, in the Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, close to China's border with Laos. The landscape is hilly and heavily forested, and on a map the town fills a narrow valley along the Nanla River, its streets pressed between water and slopes.
The county is known for its tropical forests and rubber plantations. It is also home to the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden at Menglun, one of the best-known botanical research centres in China. The main road south from Mengla leads toward the border crossing at Mohan, and the town has grown as a stop on the route between Yunnan and Laos.
