Mila Map Poster & Print
Mila lies in the hills of northeastern Algeria, northwest of Constantine. It is a very old town, known in Roman times as Milev. From above, the historic core stands out as a compact, irregular cluster on higher ground, while newer districts spread outward in larger blocks along the roads and slopes.
The old town contains the Sidi Ghanem Mosque, often cited as one of the oldest mosques in Algeria and dating back to the early Islamic period. Parts of the ancient walls also survive. Around the town, valleys and farmland slope toward the Beni Haroun Dam reservoir, among the largest in the country.
