Milagres Map Poster & Print
Milagres lies in the south of Ceará, in the semi-arid interior of Brazil's Northeast, not far from the Cariri region. The name means miracles. Like many towns of the sertão, it has a compact centre, with streets extending outward along the roads to neighbouring towns. The urban area is small and sits inside a much larger municipality that is mostly open countryside.
Around the town lies the caatinga, the dry thorn scrub of the Brazilian interior, which turns grey in the dry season and green almost overnight when the rains come. On the map the countryside appears as a sparse network of dirt roads and scattered farmhouses, with the town as a dense cluster at the centre.
Milagres is not widely known outside the region, and this poster does not pretend otherwise.
