Minaçu Map Poster & Print
Minaçu is in the far north of Goiás, in central Brazil. Water defines its map. The Serra da Mesa reservoir, one of the largest artificial lakes in the country, spreads across the valleys nearby in long, finger-like arms. The Cana Brava dam, further down the Tocantins river system, adds another area of dammed water to the region.
The town has also been closely tied to mining. For decades a large chrysotile mine operated nearby, a history that has been the subject of national debate in Brazil.
