Nazareth Map Poster & Print
Nazareth is a town in Thoothukudi district, in the far south of Tamil Nadu, on the dry plains inland from the Gulf of Mannar. It developed in the nineteenth century around a Christian mission, and its church remains the town's focal point. From above, the streets form a compact settlement surrounded by palm groves, fields and small water tanks typical of the region.
The mission shaped more than the town's name. Schools, a hospital and other institutions grew around the church, and they occupy several of the larger plots on the map. Roads link Nazareth to Tiruchendur, Thoothukudi and other towns nearby, crossing flat, open country with scattered villages between them.
