Pak Kret sits on the east bank of the Chao Phraya in Nonthaburi province, just north of Bangkok. The river makes a sharp bend here, and a canal cut across the neck of that bend in the early eighteenth century created the island of Ko Kret, which appears on the map as a rounded shape in midstream. Around it, the town spreads in a mix of sois, housing estates and main roads.
Ko Kret is home to a Mon community known for its traditional pottery and is reached by ferry rather than by road bridge. Inland, Chaeng Watthana Road links Pak Kret with the northern districts of Bangkok, and the town has grown into a large residential suburb. The result is a place where riverside villages and modern housing sit side by side.
