Pittsfield Map Poster & Print
Pittsfield is the largest city in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, and its map sits in a basin surrounded by hills. Branches of the Housatonic River wind through the city and join near its southern side, while Onota Lake and Pontoosuc Lake form two large shapes on its western and northern edges.
The city grew around Park Square and North Street, and later became an industrial centre closely linked to General Electric. It is also home to Arrowhead, where Herman Melville wrote Moby-Dick, and a 1791 town bylaw that mentions baseball is often cited as one of its earliest references.
