Quattromiglia Map Poster & Print
Quattromiglia is the lower, modern part of Rende in Calabria, spread across the valley floor just north of Cosenza. Its name refers to the distance of about four miles from the city. Unlike the old hilltop centre of Rende, this district is planned around broad roads, apartment blocks, shopping streets and green verges laid out in the second half of the twentieth century.
The University of Calabria campus at nearby Arcavacata shapes the area. Its long linear spine, designed by Vittorio Gregotti, crosses the hills as a single continuous structure and is easy to pick out on a map. Student housing, services and roads have grown up around it, giving the valley a youthful, practical character.
