Colliery settlements
The town grew from several mining settlements, and the map still shows distinct clusters of streets that once formed around separate pits before merging into one place.

Sokolohirsk Map Poster & Print
Sokolohirsk lies in Luhansk Oblast, in the Donbas coal basin of eastern Ukraine, and was known until recently as Pervomaisk. Like many towns in the region, it grew around coal mines, and its map reflects that origin: separate clusters of streets that began as workers' settlements beside individual collieries, joined over time into a single, somewhat scattered town.
The landscape is gently rolling, cut by small river valleys and marked by spoil heaps, the conical hills of mining waste that are a signature of the Donbas. Railway lines and industrial sites once linked the mines, and their traces remain in long, straight corridors between residential areas. Blocks of Soviet-era apartments stand alongside streets of private houses with gardens.
A Sokolohirsk map poster records a town shaped by industry and by the land itself. For people who come from here, many of whom now live elsewhere, it offers a calm, detailed view of familiar streets, rendered in black and white without embellishment.

Spoil heaps
Conical heaps of mining waste rise around the town, landmarks of the coal era that sit at the edges of the street network and appear as open ground on the map.
Rail corridors
Railway lines that once served the mines cut across the town in long, straight lines, separating neighborhoods and adding a strong linear element to the composition.

Many families from the Donbas have been separated from their hometowns, and a map of Sokolohirsk can hold memories that are difficult to revisit in any other way. It is a quiet, respectful way to keep a place present at home.
