Teluk Intan Map Poster & Print
Teluk Intan lies in the lower Perak River valley, where the river makes a sharp loop on its way to the Strait of Malacca. From above, the old town fills the land inside this bend. It forms a compact grid of shophouse streets, and newer housing extends out along the roads that leave the loop toward the coast and inland.
The town was called Teluk Anson under British rule and grew as a river port for the tin and agricultural trade of lower Perak. Its best-known landmark is the leaning tower of Teluk Intan. It was built in the 1880s as a water tower with a clock and tilted over time as the soft ground settled beneath it.

The nineteenth-century water and clock tower stands in the town centre and leans visibly. It is Teluk Intan's best-known landmark and sits within the grid of shophouse streets.
