Tennala Map Poster & Print
Tennala is in the Malappuram district of northern Kerala, inland from the Arabian Sea coast. Like many places in this part of the state, it does not have a single dense centre. Houses sit on their own plots among coconut palms and garden trees, and the settlement fills the landscape in a loose, even way rather than packing into a core.
From above the road network looks irregular and branching. Lanes follow the slightly higher ground between low-lying paddy fields, and the fields show up as open spaces with few lines through them. Small ponds and water channels add more shapes, especially in the wetter parts of the area.
This pattern, with homes spread across farmland instead of rows of streets, is very characteristic of rural and semi-urban Kerala.
