Touba Map Poster & Print
Touba lies on the flat, semi-arid plain of central Senegal, far from rivers and the coast. At its centre stands the Great Mosque, and the city has grown outward around it in every direction, with wide roads and broad blocks that stretch into the surrounding land.
The city was founded in 1887 by Cheikh Amadou Bamba, the founder of the Mouride brotherhood, and it remains the spiritual heart of the movement. A Touba map poster shows how strongly the mosque anchors the plan, with major avenues leading toward it from the outer districts.
