Tremembé Map Poster & Print
Tremembé lies in the Paraíba Valley in São Paulo state, beside the Paraíba do Sul River. On the map, the river loops across a wide, flat floodplain divided into long rectangular fields. The town sits on slightly higher ground next to it, with a compact historic centre and newer neighbourhoods spreading outward. The neighbouring city of Taubaté presses close on the southern side.
The town's best-known landmark is the Basílica do Senhor Bom Jesus. It has drawn pilgrims for generations and anchors the central square. The flat várzea along the river has long been used for rice growing, which explains the neat field pattern that covers so much of the surrounding map.
