Venkatagiri Map Poster & Print
Venkatagiri is in southern Andhra Pradesh, inland from the Bay of Bengal and close to the first low ridges of the Eastern Ghats. From above, the town has a dense older core of narrow lanes, and the streets loosen gradually into newer quarters and farmland along the roads leading out.
The town is best known for its handloom cotton saris, a weaving tradition recognised with a Geographical Indication tag, and for its history as the seat of a former zamindari estate. Much of the weaving happens in homes along ordinary residential streets, so the map of the lanes is also a map of the craft.
