Vidnoye is a town in Moscow Oblast, located directly south of the capital, just beyond the MKAD ring road. It functions as an administrative centre for its district and as a residential town for people who work in Moscow, and much of its map is made up of apartment blocks arranged in large residential quarters.
The town is framed by strong lines: major highways heading south out of Moscow, a railway on the Paveletsky direction, and patches of woodland and parkland that break up the housing. New developments have spread outward in recent decades, adding wide avenues and rectangular estates to an older, more modest core.
