Wayaobu Map Poster & Print
Wayaobu is the seat of Zichang County in northern Shaanxi, on the Loess Plateau. The land here is cut by deep gullies and ridges, and on a map the town fits into a narrow valley. Streets run along the valley floor, and the built-up area is long and thin, stretching wherever the flat ground allows.
Around the town, the landscape is a dense pattern of branching gullies, like the veins of a leaf. Roads climb out of the valley along side ravines, and terraced fields and small villages sit on the loess slopes. The contrast between the straight valley streets and the intricate terrain gives the map a strong character.
