Xihu Map Poster & Print
Xihu is a town in Chongqing municipality, in the hilly country south of the Yangtze that characterises much of the region. The land here is rarely flat. Hills and ridges are cut by small valleys, slopes are farmed in terraces, and settlements take whatever level ground they can find. On the map, Xihu's centre is a compact cluster of streets within this folded terrain.
Roads in this landscape are anything but straight. They follow contours, switch back up hillsides and trace the bottoms of valleys, producing a looping, irregular network with villages and scattered houses strung along it. It is a very different picture from the dense towers of central Chongqing, yet it belongs to the same mountainous geography that shapes the whole municipality.
