Yanqul Map Poster & Print
Yanqul lies in Oman's Ad Dhahirah Governorate, on the inland side of the Hajar mountains where the rocky slopes meet the gravel plains. As in many Omani oases, water shapes everything on the map. The settlement follows the course of wadis coming down from the hills, and date palm groves spread wherever water can be brought to the land.
Much of that water arrives through aflaj, the traditional channels that carry groundwater or spring water over long distances to the fields. The groves they irrigate appear on the map as dense, irregular patches, with older houses clustered beside them and newer neighbourhoods spreading onto the open ground.
A Yanqul map poster shows a clear contrast between rugged mountain terrain, dry wadis and the green, closely worked oasis at its heart. In black and white, the lines of the channels, roads and groves form a delicate pattern against the empty land around them.
