Zenica Map Poster & Print
Zenica lies in central Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the valley of the Bosna River about seventy kilometres north of Sarajevo. The valley shapes everything on the map: the city stretches along the river in a long, narrow band, with the main road and railway running beside the water and residential districts climbing the lower slopes on either side. Beyond them, forested hills close in.
Zenica has been one of the country's main industrial centres since the late nineteenth century, when an ironworks was established here, and the steel plant beside the river remains its largest landmark. The plant's grounds appear on the map as an extensive area of large blocks and rail sidings, clearly different in texture from the housing estates nearby.
