Карта
Seen from above, Ash Sharqāt follows the Tigris. The river runs past the town on its eastern side, and the built-up area stretches along it in a long, narrow band, with irrigated fields pressed between the houses and the water. Away from the river the streets thin out quickly into open steppe, so the map reads as a clear contrast between a dense riverside strip and pale, empty ground beyond.
A few kilometres south lies Assur, the first capital of the Assyrian Empire and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2003. On a map it appears as a raised outcrop on the same bank of the Tigris, its outline shaped by the river bend it once guarded. Few places put a modern street pattern and one of the oldest cities of Mesopotamia so close together in the same frame.
An Ash Sharqāt map poster keeps these layers simple: the curve of the river, the main road running north towards Mosul and south towards Baiji, the grid of residential blocks, and the bridge that links the town to the east bank. Printed in black and white, the composition is spare and legible, which suits a place defined so strongly by water and open land.
The river forms the defining line of the map, running along the eastern side of the town and separating the dense street pattern from the fields and floodplain across the water.
In a wider frame, the archaeological site of Assur sits on a rocky spur above the Tigris. Its compact outline, apart from the modern grid, gives the poster a distinct historical anchor.
A main road follows the Tigris valley through the town, linking it with Mosul to the north and Baiji to the south, and much of the street network branches off this single spine.

Почто Ash Sharqāt
For people from Ash Sharqāt, or with family there, the map is a quiet way to keep home close: the river, the familiar blocks, the road out of town. For those drawn to Mesopotamian archaeology, it marks the setting of Assur in a way a photograph rarely does.
You can set your own title and subtitle, add a date that matters, and adjust the coordinates line. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, then download the HD files for $9 or order a printed poster with an optional wooden frame.
