RN7 highway
The national road from Antananarivo runs straight through town. It's the poster's main line, and most of the built-up area gathers close along it.

Antanifotsy Map Poster & Print
Antanifotsy lies in the Vakinankaratra region, in the central highlands of Madagascar. It sits on the RN7, the main road running south from Antananarivo toward Antsirabe. The land around it is high and rolling, and rice paddies fill the valley floors. On a map the town stretches along the highway, and fields and scattered hamlets surround it.
Highland towns like this follow the terrain closely. The road picks a line through the hills, and houses gather along it and on the drier slopes above the paddies. Side streets are short and irregular, and they fade quickly into footpaths that lead out to the fields and neighbouring villages.
An Antanifotsy map poster shows a town defined by a single road and the land it crosses. The RN7 forms a strong line through the composition, and the fine, organic network of lanes and tracks around it gives the print a delicate texture. It's a quiet image of rural Madagascar, drawn with care.

Valley rice paddies
Lower ground around the town is given over to rice. It shows as open space between the streets, following the curves of the valleys.
Hillside lanes
Short, winding streets climb the drier slopes and become footpaths. They give the edges of the map an irregular, handmade quality.
