Araripe Map Poster & Print
Araripe is a small town in the south of Ceará, near the borders with Pernambuco and Piauí. From above, it forms a compact, fairly regular grid of streets, with a central square and a few main roads leading out into the countryside. Beyond the edges of town the lines thin out quickly into rural tracks, small farms and the dry open land of the sertão.
The town takes its name from the Chapada do Araripe, the long tableland that rises over this part of northeastern Brazil and defines the horizon. The plateau is known for its forest reserve and for the region's remarkable fossil deposits, which have drawn scientific interest for decades. On a map, the chapada's edge shapes how roads approach the town and where settlements cluster.
An Araripe map poster keeps things simple and true: a small grid in a wide landscape. The streets are few enough to feel familiar, and the empty space around them says something about the scale of the sertão. It suits people from the town and families who moved to Fortaleza, Juazeiro do Norte or further away but still think of Araripe as home.

Roads into the sertão
A handful of roads leave town towards neighbouring municipalities and rural communities, fading into tracks across the dry countryside.
Under the chapada
The Chapada do Araripe, a long flat-topped plateau, shapes the landscape around the town and gives it both its name and its horizon.
