Badagara Map Poster
Badagara, now officially Vatakara, lies on the Malabar coast in the Kozhikode district of northern Kerala. As with many towns along this coast, the map is organised by the sea. A long sandy shoreline marks the west, and the national highway and the coastal railway run inland, roughly parallel to it. The town itself stretches out between these lines.
Between the main roads and the shore, the street pattern breaks up into small lanes, house plots and palm groves, with rivers and backwaters meeting the sea in places. The area is historically linked to the old Kadathanadu region and to the Vadakkan Pattukal, the northern ballads of Kerala. On a map, the town has no single core. It reads as a band of settlement running along the coast.
A Badagara map poster shows this long, narrow form clearly. The coastline is a single steady stroke, the transport lines follow it, and fine lanes fill the gaps between. In Sand or Paper, the result is a soft, linear composition that feels close to what it is like to travel along this shore.

Small rivers and backwaters break through toward the Arabian Sea, adding curved water shapes to the thin coastal strip.

Warum Badagara
Eine Karte mit Bedeutung
Many people from Vatakara live and work far away, in the Gulf or in other parts of India. A map of the home coast, with the highway and the shore side by side, keeps that geography close.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The digital files cost $9, and a free 900 px preview lets you check the framing before buying.
