Church and plaza
The centre follows the colonial pattern of a plaza beside the parish church, with streets laid out roughly square around it. It is the clearest shape on the print.

Bantay Map Poster & Print
Bantay is a municipality in Ilocos Sur on the north-western coast of Luzon, directly north of the historic city of Vigan. On the map the two towns almost touch. Bantay's centre is a small, regular arrangement of streets around the church and town plaza, and to the east the land spreads out into rice fields and rises toward low hills.
The town's best-known landmark is the Bantay Church and its separate bell tower, which stands on a rise nearby. The tower is said to have served as a lookout over the coast, which fits the town's name, since bantay means to guard or watch in Ilocano. Visitors to Vigan often climb it for the view.
A Bantay map poster shows the town in its regional setting: the Spanish colonial plaza pattern at the centre, the roads running south into Vigan, and the waterways and fields around them. It suits people from Ilocos Sur and travellers who remember the walk up to the bell tower.

The bell tower rise
The separate bell tower stands on higher ground near the church. The small hill interrupts the street pattern and marks the town's historic lookout point.
Joined to Vigan
Bantay's streets run straight into Vigan's to the south. A wider frame can take in both towns and the river country around them.
