Blackburn Map Poster & Print
Blackburn lies in a valley in east Lancashire, where the land rises on every side toward moorland. On a map the town centre sits low, and terraced streets climb the slopes around it in long, parallel rows. They were built for the workers of the cotton mills that once filled the valley. The Leeds and Liverpool Canal winds across the town, following the contours of the hills.
In the nineteenth century Blackburn was one of the great cotton weaving towns of the world. The mills, chimneys and terraces that grew around that industry still define much of its layout. In 1926 the parish church became Blackburn Cathedral, which now stands in the town centre close to the railway station.
Many people know the name from a line in the Beatles song A Day in the Life, about four thousand holes in Blackburn, Lancashire. Football fans know Ewood Park, home of Blackburn Rovers, in the south of the town. A Blackburn map poster shows the valley, the canal, the ring of terraced districts and the open hills around them in one view.

Terraced streets
Rows of Victorian terraced houses climb the hillsides in tight, parallel lines. They form one of the most distinctive textures on the map and trace the town's industrial history.
Ewood Park
The home ground of Blackburn Rovers sits in the south of the town beside the River Darwen. It has been a landmark for generations of supporters and is a clear point of reference on the map.

Warum Blackburn
Eine Karte mit Bedeutung
Blackburn's streets hold strong memories for families who worked in its mills, for its large communities with roots in South Asia and for football supporters. The map shows the terraces and hills in a way that anyone who lived there will recognise immediately.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be personalised, perhaps with a street, a family name or a memorable match date. Choose between five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Noir gives the mill town a particularly strong, graphic look.
