Boulsa is a town in the Centre-Nord region of Burkina Faso and the capital of Namentenga province. It lies on the open plateau of the country's interior, in a landscape of savanna, farmland and scattered trees. The rains are seasonal, and the land looks very different between the wet and dry months.
From above, the town has a compact centre with an administrative and market area. Around it, residential compounds spread out along earth roads. Main roads lead outward to neighbouring towns and villages, and the countryside beyond is marked by small fields and footpaths.
