Amazon estuary channels
Broad channels of the Amazon mouth pass the town. Their wide, smooth outlines take up much of the map and dwarf the streets on the shore.

Chaves Map Poster & Print
Chaves is a municipality on the northern side of Marajó Island in the Brazilian state of Pará, at the mouth of the Amazon. It lies just south of the equator, and water dominates its landscape: wide river channels, islands, tidal creeks and seasonally flooded plains. The town itself is small, a modest arrangement of streets on the bank of a broad channel.
Much of the municipality is made up of islands in the estuary and low wetland grazed by cattle and water buffalo, typical of Marajó. Roads are few and boats are the main way to travel. The map reflects that, showing a small cluster of streets inside a vast area of water and land shaped by tides and river currents.
Chaves covers a large territory with few inhabitants, and life here follows the rhythm of the tides and the rainy season. A Chaves map poster captures a rare kind of geography: a town on the edge of the Amazon, the world's largest river by volume, where water outweighs streets and the shoreline is always shifting.

Island landscape
The estuary breaks the surrounding area into islands and creeks, an intricate pattern of water and land that changes with the tides and seasons.
Compact town
The town is a small group of streets on the waterfront, and it reads as a precise, simple mark against the open water that surrounds it.
